Originally, the character was depicted as a professor who gets called into help with sticky situations or mysterious illnesses. Nearly 1. 00 years later in 1. Hideyuki Kikuchi and Yoshitaka Amano introduced a darker version of the character who was closer to a vampire hunter than a professor.
